My first big assignment at the new job here at the Institutional Investor.
AERT is a 24 page feature divided by analyst rankings, charts, and photography that I was in charge of in its entirety. My direction for the photographs were to shoot on white seamless, that way the images can be manipulated into different areas of the page and make them feel as if they're all in the same room. As you flip through pages you see pieces from previous pages. The end result was highly successful and my only complaint is the retouching. I think it could have looked smoother.
The photo section started on a right (I objected to this but it was the Editors decision) to a spread, spread, and ended on a left.
Jaime Brandwood and Michael Pickup are freaking me out, Jaime is staring so intently that it makes him look like he's about the knife me like a crazy person and Michael's head is disproportionate to his body, he looks like one of those bobble head toys.
I really like what you did at the top with the numbers, I liked the way the text was set out as well, one thing you could've done with the coloured boxes was use the same colours as displayed in the photo (red tie, red box, orange hair, orange box etc) but I don't think you would've had enough different colours if you did that so really what you did was the best option.
the ginger gork with the glasses is missing some face, photographer shud of spotted that lens refraction. the composition is great though, the text doesn't read all that well your columns are so tight.
wat format is this in size wise? is it a pull apart banner. It does look pretty good overall, cant say ive done anything better ever hah
Not necessarily the photo editor, in fact she did a great job in bringing in Derrick Santini at a decent price. It's the re-toucher who's been with the company for a number of years and has never handled anything of this proportion before. I might outsource next time to prove a point and set an example.
